Dispensing Technologies

The most important issues to consider when configuring a dispensing system are:

  • Technical characteristics of the material to be dispensed: viscosity, density, fillers and abrasiveness.
  • Dispensing volume to be applied.
  • Material supply format.
  • Cycle time.
  • Temperature requirements to improve material flow and process stability.
  • Dispensing under atmospheric conditions or under vacuum.
  • Requirements for material homogenization and degassing.
  • Manual application or integration in a process line.

PREPARATION AND FEEDING UNITS

A310

Method: Volumetric
Reservoir: Tanks of 60 or 20 L, not pressurized, in which vacuum and agitation can be applied
Viscosities: Medium viscous materials, 1C or 2C, with or without fillers

Material preparation and feeding unit to a dispensing metering head made of tanks (20/60 L) in which vacuum and temperature control can be applied, as well as material agitation and recirculation throughout the working process (dynamic situation). These features favour the homogenization of components, avoid sedimentation, and remove the air trapped in the material ensuring a fast degassing and bubble-free dispensing.

This system is suitable for liquid to medium viscous materials (up to about 50.000 cP), either 1C or 2C, with or without fillers; and especially suitable for moisture sensitive materials which need to be processed under vacuum.

A310 – TP

Method: Volumetric
Reservoir: Tanks of 20 or 5 L, not pressurized, in which vacuum and agitation can be applied
Viscosities: High viscous materials, with limited flowability, 1C or 2C, with or without fillers

Material preparation and feeding unit to a dispensing metering head based on system A310, but appropriate for demanding materials with higher viscosity. Usually a barrel follower plate is used to extract highly viscous materials from the supplied drum. However, in such cases it is not possible to stir and thus prepare the material prior to dispensing.

The system A310 TP (Top Pump) has been designed to prepare and feed demanding, highly viscous dispensing material in vacuum environments.

A310 – TP 01 / 05 L

Method: Volumetric
Reservoir: Tanks of 5 or 1 L, not pressurized, in which vacuum and agitation can be applied
Viscosities: High viscous materials, with limited flowability, 1C or 2C, with or without fillers

Material preparation and feeding unit to a dispensing metering head based on system A310, but designed for small quantities of dispensing materials. It is the rational answer to changing market requirements such as the miniaturization of components with each product generation, or the decrease of batch production sizes to meet specific demands.

Temperature control can be also applied to optimize the viscosity of the dispensing medium, as well as vacuum to evacuate air trapped in the material already during preparation. Degassing the material is very important to ensure a bubble-free dispensing process.

A280

Material feeding unit directly from the original container, with a full automated feeding system based on a disposable barrel follower plate which allows, by means of vacuum, levelling the surface of the dispensing material and removing the air trapped between the plate and the surface; this facilitates a constant flow of the dispensing mass, preventing the air from entering into the feeding process. Besides, the system has a filling level control that ensures the container is emptied completely, avoiding waste of dispensing material.

Appropriate for highly viscous and abrasive materials, 1C or 2C, such as thermally conductive adhesives and pastes

A220

Material feeding unit directly from the original container, with a full automated feeding system based on a disposable barrel follower plate which allows, by means of vacuum, levelling the surface of the dispensing material and removing the air trapped between the plate and the surface; this facilitates a constant flow of the dispensing mass, preventing the air from entering into the feeding process. Besides, the system has a filling level control that ensures the container is emptied completely, avoiding waste of dispensing material.

Appropriate for highly viscous materials,1C or 2C, such as adhesives, greases and sealants.

A90

Method: Volumetric
Reservoir: Cartridges or pressure tanks
Viscosities: Low to medium viscous materials, not or only moderately filled, and insensitive to moisture

Material feeding unit from cartridges (180 – 310 mL) or pressure tanks (6 – 60L). Appropriate for 1C or 2C materials of different viscosities and weak tendency for sedimentation.

For highly filled, high-density materials there is unit A90B, which combines the performance of a cartridge ejector with a piston pump, and boosts the feeding pressure, thus accelerating the metering process achieving a more efficient production flow.

EXTRUSION – IMPULSION CLASSIC SYSTEM

Material feeding system directly from the supply container, with rubber follower plate, control level and shot volumes control. Suitable for high viscous materials (until about 500 Pa·s).

METERING AND DISPENSING HEADS

DOS P

Volumetric piston dispenser designed to work with 1C or 2C materials ensuring maximum accuracy and reliability.

When using 2C materials, the mixing ratio is kept always constant, and the metering cylinders are appropriately dimensioned according to the required volume and mixing ratio, and are simultaneously discharged to feed the static mixer and achieve a perfect homogenization at the output.

It is an ideal system for dispensing abrasive media as well as materials sensitive to pressure, moisture or shear stress, without risking changes in the material properties and with a high wear resistance.

DOS GP

Volumetric gear pump dispenser appropriate for applications of high viscous materials, but non-abrasive and unfilled.

The gear pumps operate on the principle of rotating volumetric displacement, thus allowing a continuous and constant dispensing process; the rotating speed precisely controls the metering output.

It is an ideal system for bead and sealing applications, even on complex geometries of work pieces.

PRESSURE – TIME DISPENSING

Pressure–time dispensing system from a syringe of maximum 50 mL. Appropriate for applying small shot volumes with high regularity and precision, and without any further adjustment beyond the initial pressure and time set up.

Within this system two different technologies can be distinguished:

  • ACCURA: suitable for micro dispensing materials; pressure inside a syringe is automatically compensated to achieve constant dispensing as the material level decreases or the material viscosity changes in the course of time.
  • NEO-ONE: suitable to control the material temperature, thus avoiding the environmental effects as well as the friction due to continuous application.

POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT DISPENSING

ROLLMATIC SYSTEM

Method: Positive displacement
Reservoir: Supply container
Viscosities: < 1 Pa·s

Positive displacement dispensing system. Material is sucked directly from the supply container. A digital control of all dispensing parameters (adjustment values, rotor speed, dispensing time, etc.) is available, as well as a shot counter with an alarm at the end of the established dispensing cycles. Particularly suitable for micro dispensing cyanoacrilate.
